“Integrative Care for the Future” is an international organization devoted to the study and application of evidence-based complementary therapies to control symptoms associated with cancer and other serious illnesses.
An International Conference on Integrative Care was held in The Netherlands March 11 and 12, 2011. The Conference addressed the economic, political, regulatory, educational and professional health care landscape in a diverse group of nations. It was chaired by Barrie Cassileth, PhD, Chief of the Integrative Medicine Service at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, New York. The conference was organized in partnership with Mischa Nagel, Amsterdam-based publisher of “Supplement” and other periodicals for Dutch health professionals. Conference faculty, topics and more are available at www.IntegrativeCareftFuture.org.
The 2011 conference led to development of an e-journal, “INTEGRATE”, which offers summaries of important publications in the medical literature on Integrative Medicine in oncology and related disciplines. INTEGRATE is meant to provide busy clinicians, researchers and other health care professionals internationally with easy access to new data in the field. It also contains helpful information about herb-drug interactions and information on specific integrative practices such as acupuncture, meditation and other mind-body therapies, nutrition and fitness, yoga and more. In addition, the forthcoming Issue 2 of INTEGRATE will contain a detailed report on the “Integrative Care for the Future” conference.
